Selma feels she was given the privilege of coming to build a life in Slovenia

Author: Dušana Findeisen

Selma is one of many Bosnian refugees who arrived in Slovenia after having spent months under the seige in Sarajevo. Selma stopped in Slovenia due to her friendship with Amir , who became her husband. She was employed at the National Statistics Agency since statistics were her speciality in Sarajevo, before the war. She feels she was given the privilege of coming to build a life in Slovenia. Since then, as a way of giving back thanks, she became involved in volunteering, and continuous community engagement. Choosing to give back, as much as she could, rather than take.
