IADT National Conference & Film Festival

The RefugeesIN Irish National Film Festival and Seminar was hosted by Cultur Ireland, and held in Dublin at the head office of Amnesty International Ireland in Dublin city centre on the 17th of November – see Poster above. The final half-day was held on the 18th of December at Mosney, Direct Provision Centre for Refugess in Navan, County Meath.

The attendance was very good, in total over the two days 45 people attended. IADT worked very closely with Cultur, and in particular with Reuben Hambakachere who sent out invitations via the Cultur and Amnesty International network throughout Ireland.

IADT had difficulty obtaining commitments in advance of the Film Festival for people to attend on the second half-day on two days running. In anticipation of this, IADT had decided to run the second half-day event in the Refugee Direct Provision Centre in Mosney County Meath, this took place on Tuesday, December 18. The rationale was that this would allow Management who run the centre in Mosney and residents in this centre who could not make the first day /date in Dublin City Centre an opportunity to view the films and obtain an overview of the RefugeesIN project.
